We aim to prepare our pupils to shape tomorrow through excellence in British or Portuguese education, with a global perspective.
Nobel Algarve British International School is an exceptional school, offering a unique education in the heart of the Algarve, Portugal.
Our school is truly international; we are enriched by difference, developing students with a global, collaborative mindset.
Our school helps each individual to discover their own brilliance; our pupils are challenged to be the best they can be.
Our school builds character; from the moment our children arrive, aged three onwards, we help them develop their character, resilience, relationships, abilities, skills and knowledge.
Our school empowers our pupils; we encourage our children to question and challenge and ask why?
To be bold, to be honest – to shape the world.
Why Nobel Algarve
Students at Nobel International School Algarve enjoy many educational advantages.
Why do families choose us?
There are many reasons why families choose us to educate their children.
Ethos
Our vision, to enrich and challenge our pupils so they achieve success in their own way and build the confidence to help shape the future, means we aim to equip and challenge our pupils to use their knowledge, skills, and talents to make life better for others in their community and the wider world.
Focus on the individual
Everyone is brilliant at something. We help children to discover their brilliance, support them to excel in that passion and celebrate that everyone is different.
House structure with strong pastoral support
The strength and importance of our pastoral provision are fundamental to the well-being and success of our pupils. Through our House system, we bring the school community together, building positive and respectful relationships across phases and sections - we champion the voice of each child.
Qualified and experienced teaching staff
We hire only the best teachers and practitioners; all our teachers are qualified in the subjects they teach and they are all passionate and enthusiastic to share their knowledge and love of their subjects with their pupils.
Academic standards
We set rigorous academic standards using cutting edge research to ensure the learning in every classroom is effective. Education needs change, it needs to progress and we are prepared to make that happen. Our use of globally recognised assessment practices ensures our pupils achieve qualifications aligned with global standards of excellence. We are rightly proud of our academic results and the vast majority of our students go on to study at prestigious universities like the University of Oxford, UCL, Imperial, Edinburgh, Universidade de Lisboa and Norwegian Business School.
Bilingualism is actively promoted and developed
Bilingualism starts in our bilingual pre-school and is promoted and encouraged throughout our pupils’ schooling. Our staff of highly qualified specialist teachers provide additional support, differentiated materials and essential one-to-one inductions in English and Portuguese for those who require it and our two sections work together to promote language learning.
Sport to promote fitness and teamwork
Our high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. Our pupils are provided with opportunities to become physically confident in a way that supports their health and fitness. The many opportunities pupils have to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
Drama to build a deep sense of self-esteem
Drama inspires creativity, developing emotional maturity, and giving pupils a deep understanding of themselves. It involves using not only pupils’ voices and bodies, but also emotions and creativity, so it engenders a deep sense of self-esteem.
Students are encouraged to take part in drama productions and attend theatre performances from the youngest age –everyone looks forward to the annual primary school nativity play. Drama at IGCSE is now a popular and successful exam subject open to all International pupils.
Art to inspire the spirit
Art, craft, design and music embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. Our high-quality creative arts education engages, inspires and challenges pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft, design and music. As pupils progress, they are able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of the arts. They learn about how art both reflects and shapes our history, and contributes to the culture, creativity and wealth of our world.
With four art and design rooms staffed by dedicated teachers, our students produce a high standard of work. Our pupils’ embroidery has achieved national recognition, and our pupils regularly display their work around the school. Music is also integral to the education here with a state of the art music room, highly qualified, dedicated teachers and a broad range of instruments taught by peripatetic music teachers.
Expeditions to reconnect with nature
Our pupils learn to face challenges confidently building character so they manage failure with tenacity and resilience. Year 10 students can take part in the annual Journey of Discovery, a unique outdoor experience designed to build self-awareness, confidence, and teamwork skills and in Forest School, children explore, discover and experience meaningful experiences that encourage holistic growth and nurture a spirit of adventure.
Science, Information and Communications Technology for the future
Our high-quality science education provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity, and all pupils are taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils should be encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. They are encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes.
Realising the importance of technological knowledge and skills in the 21st Century, we nurture the development of a high standard of competence in these areas with excellent opportunities for younger children to experience practical science.
