Junior Mathematical Challenge Success
Junior Mathematical Challenge Success
The Junior Mathematical Challenge took place on 2nd May, with an impressive 46 pupils participating.
This national, multiple-choice maths competition, organised by the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT), lasts 60 minutes and is designed to challenge pupils in Year 8 and below. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precise thinking, and the application of fundamental techniques to solve problems.
Although the competition is primarily aimed at pupils in Years 7 and 8, we were especially proud to see enthusiastic participation from younger pupils - with some as young as Year 5 stepping up to the challenge.
Results Overview
Our pupils achieved some fantastic results, with many being awarded certificates:
- Gold Award for a score of 91 or above
- Silver Award for a score of 73 or above
- Bronze Award for a score of 54 or above
All pupils who participated received a Certificate of Participation, recognising their effort and courage in taking part in a challenging competition.
Almost 40% of our entrants were awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold certificate — a remarkable outcome – reflecting their hard work and diligence.
We would like to congratulate every pupil who took part in this year’s Junior Mathematical Challenge and a big thank you to the staff who supported the event. Events like this contribute greatly to a culture of academic excellence and a love of learning across the school.
We look forward next year’s challenge!
