Nobel Algarve Almancil - Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a prestigious youth awards program founded in the United Kingdom in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. It aims to encourage personal development and community involvement among young people.

There are three levels, each requiring increasing amounts of commitment:

  • Bronze – starting at age 14
  • Silver – starting at age 15
  • Gold – starting at age 16


 

Volunteering

Helping people or the community (e.g., charity work, mentoring, environmental projects)

 

Physical

 Improving fitness through sport or physical activity (e.g., football, dance, gym)

 

Skills

Developing a personal interest or hobby (e.g., music, cooking, coding)

 

Expedition

Planning and completing a journey in the outdoors, including an overnight stay (e.g., hiking and camping)

At gold level, there is an additional requirement to take part in a residential course with other participants.
