Secondary School at Nobel Algarve Almancil
Our international Secondary School programme encourages initiative and supports individualised academic growth to help students build character, confidence, and cross-cultural sensitivity. Students follow the National Curriculum of England, contextualised for our international community, and culminating in ICGSE exams in Year 11. They can then go on to study for the International Baccalaureate Diploma or a BTEC programme in Years 12&13.
Taught by passionate, qualified subject specialists, the breadth and depth of the curriculum at Nobel schools are unmatched across the Algarve. Combining high academic standards with personal and social development, we encourage every student to discover what success means to them, supporting their goals and choices through excellent pastoral provision.
All subjects are taught in English. Students in the Secondary School have the option of studying Portuguese or French as an additional language, and in some cases, as a first language. When they get into Year 10 (IGCSE), they can choose both languages.
Through the Globeducate network of schools, students gain unique and invaluable opportunities for international cooperation and collaboration, including exchanges, competitions and events.

Reports and assessment
We track progress and achievement using internationally benchmarked assessments at key educational stages. All students in Years 7 to 9 sit an end-of-year examination in June.
We provide parents with reports outlining students’ academic and personal progress three times a year. Each report contains grades for both attainment and effort. Parents are invited to meet their children’s teachers and form teachers to discuss the progress of their children three times a year: after the first half-term, as well as after reports are published in Terms 1 and 2. Beyond scheduled meetings, parents are welcome to reach out to teachers at any time to discuss their child’s development.

A note from the Head of Secondary School
Welcome to the Secondary School at Nobel Algarve Almancil. Our secondary students are so much more than young people who are trained and prepared to pass assessments. We place an emphasis on social and emotional development, life skills and creating opportunities for students where they are challenged and encouraged to make decisions.
As Head of Secondary, I am passionate about integrating pastoral care with academic excellence, fostering enriching learning environments, and creating meaningful opportunities for both students and the educators who support them.
