The start of the academic year marks an exciting time for our Year 13 students, as they begin the process of applying to universities. For those pursuing higher education in the UK, students have been enrolled onto UCAS, the UK’s university application platform, and are now busy drafting their personal statements, refining their course choices, and preparing for the next stage of their academic journeys. This is a significant and transformative period, as they take key steps toward shaping their future careers.
As part of the application process, many students are required to produce a personal statement for their chosen courses. To support this, we recently held a dedicated form time to guide Year 13 students on what to include in their personal statements and how to craft a standout, high-quality submission. Students were introduced to valuable tools such as the Personal Statement Builder on UCAS and Unifrog, which offer structured guidance to make the writing process more manageable. We've also shared useful links below for further support at home.
We also support students who are considering applying to international universities in both Europe and further afield. With a growing interest in studying abroad, particularly in the Netherlands, we recently hosted a form time workshop for students considering Dutch universities and other major European institutions. The session provided valuable insight into varying international application processes, ensuring students are well-informed about their options across different countries.
Meanwhile, our Year 12 students have begun their own university and career exploration. During their form time, they have been introduced to UCAS and its extensive careers and course library, which can benefit all students, regardless of their intended study destination. With support from their form and subject teachers, Year 12 students will use this platform to make informed decisions about their future courses and career paths as they prepare for Year 13 and their final year of secondary education.
In the coming weeks, Year 12 students will be introduced to even more resources and tools to help them confidently navigate these important decisions, setting them up for success in their academic and career planning.
