Rituals & Traditions
Lagoa embraces the rituals and traditions shared by all Globeducate British International Schools. Our membership of this powerful network means our community marks milestones and enjoys cultural celebrations via assemblies and ceremonies like our global counterparts.
House System
Lagoa’s House system divides the student body into smaller communities, promoting citizenship and well-being, as well as competition and collaboration across age groups.
Each year, four Captains are elected to head up one of our student-designed Houses in what is often their first leadership experience. Students work together in their Houses in curricular and enrichment activities, striving for success as a team.
Ways we use the House system at Lagoa:
- For collaboration, through cross-section and phase competitions.
- For student leadership, and student voice.
- Students can shape our school community through the House Council For charity work during which our students learn to contribute to a fair and just world.
- Rewards and Recognition. Students are celebrated for their effort, kindness, sporting endeavours, or academic success.
Celebrating Success
You will hear students enthuse about Lagoa’s Achievement Teas! Students are invited in small groups to share their successes with Abi Lewis, our Head of School, over pastel de nata and tea - combining two cherished Portuguese and English traditions.
