Secondary School at Nobel Algarve Lagoa
Our international Secondary School includes Middle School (Years 7-9) and Senior School (Years 10-13). Lessons are designed to impart knowledge while building character, a global mindset, a sense of responsibility, and skills for life. We have rigorous standards, and our exam results and onward destinations are a testament to the success of our approach.
All students in Secondary School take part in our outdoor learning programme, The Journey. It is designed to inspire a love of the outdoors, test limits and build resilience in our students. The experiences they take part in foster team-building skills and help students develop self-confidence and decision-making capabilities.
Middle school
During Years 7-9 we teach key stage 3 of the English National Curriculum, beginning to cover subjects in more depth with specialist teachers and preparing students for the upcoming demands of IGCSEs and A-levels.
Middle School students divide their learning day across a mixture of four core subjects:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Portuguese
Plus additional subject areas:
- French
- Geography
- History
- Art
- Information Technology
- Design Technology
- P.E.
- Drama and Music (Years 7 and 8)

Senior School
In Years 10 and 11, students prepare for IGCSE examinations in a variety of compulsory and optional subjects. In addition to compulsory subjects, students can choose from a broad range of additional courses.
The curriculum in Years 12-13, known as Sixth Form, embraces the English AS and A-level programme. We offer a wide range of academic subjects, and students are supported in their choices by their class tutor and subject teachers. Typically, two to four AS subjects are studied in Year 12, and two to three A-Level subjects are studied in Year 13.

A Welcome from the Deputy Head (Pastoral System)
Our Secondary school is a vibrant, inclusive, and dynamic environment where students are encouraged to challenge themselves, grow in confidence, and strive for excellence—both academically and personally. We are proud to offer a broad and balanced British curriculum, enriched by international perspectives and tailored to support the unique strengths and ambitions of each student.
At the heart of our school is a strong sense of community. We believe that successful education is built on positive relationships, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to each student’s development. Whether your child is just beginning their journey or preparing for university and beyond, we are all here to guide, support, and inspire them every step of the way.
I look forward to working together to ensure a happy, successful and memorable Secondary School experience for your child.
