From Resilience to Results: Celebrating Nobel Algarve Lagoa’s Outstanding Students

From Resilience to Results: Celebrating Nobel Algarve Lagoa’s Outstanding Students

The community of Nobel Algarve British International School, Lagoa, is celebrating another year of remarkable academic success, reflecting not only students’ hard work and determination, but also the supportive environment and high standards upheld across the school.

Behind every grade are powerful stories of resilience, ambition, and opportunity. For Oscar, who achieved three A grades and has been accepted to study Real Estate Finance at the University of Reading, the journey through Sixth Form was about much more than examinations. He embraced the challenge of independent study and is now preparing for a gap year filled with international experience, including a work placement in Buenos Aires. His path illustrates how academic results at Nobel Algarve Lagoa are not just an end in themselves, but a launchpad to exciting opportunities across the globe.

Similarly, Abigail, who is heading to the University of Sheffield to study Biological Sciences, speaks warmly of the tailored guidance she received throughout her application process. For her, the encouragement and expertise of her teachers were as important as the grades she ultimately achieved, giving her both confidence and direction as she takes her next step.

At iGCSE level, this same spirit is already visible among our younger high achievers. Students such as Dang, Shadi, Lucas, Emma and Eva demonstrated excellence across a wide range of subjects, but what shines through most is their consistent commitment, breadth of interests, and determination to succeed. Their results not only reflect academic ability but also the qualities of perseverance, ambition and creativity that will carry them into Sixth Form and beyond.

This year, our A-Level students secured 60% of grades at A*/A/B, with 38% achieving the highest A*/A grades, well above the UK average of 28%. Our iGCSE cohort followed in their footsteps with over 35% attaining Grade 7 (Grade A equivalent) or above and a strong overall pass rate of 83% at Grade 4 (Grade C equivalent) or higher and again surpassing the national averages in the UK.

These student journeys, from iGCSE to A-Level, illustrate the continuum of learning at Nobel Algarve British International School, Lagoa. They remind us that while examinations measure achievement, they also represent the growth, resilience and aspirations of young people preparing for their futures.

As the school looks ahead to the opening of the new campus buildings and facilities, and investment in additional resources for the future of our Secondary and Sixth Form students, the foundation of success is already clear: students are being inspired to aim higher, supported by passionate teachers, and equipped to thrive at some of the world’s leading universities.

“We are immensely proud of this year’s results, not only because they exceed national averages, but because of what they represent for our students’ journeys. Each grade tells a story of resilience, growth and ambition. With exciting new developments on the horizon, we look forward to supporting many more success stories in the years to come.”
Ian Walker, Head of School
