Proud to Be an Eco-School and a Blue School

At Nobel Algarve British International School Lagoa, sustainability is more than a label. It is a value we are proud to place at the heart of our school community, encouraging our students to understand the world around them and, importantly, to recognise their role in protecting it.

As both an Eco-School and a Blue School, we are committed to promoting environmental responsibility on land and at sea. From reducing our environmental impact and making more sustainable choices, to developing a deeper understanding of our oceans and the incredible ecosystems they support, we believe that meaningful change begins with education.

Our 2025/2026 Wear It Wild Day was a wonderful example of these values in action. Following the tremendous success of the day, we were delighted to donate the proceeds to AIMM – Associação para a Investigação do Meio Marinho (Marine Environment Research Association), a Portuguese non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the research, conservation and education of marine species and ecosystems.

We were particularly proud to receive a certificate from AIMM in recognition of our contribution and the efforts of our school community. It was a lovely reminder that even seemingly small actions can make a meaningful difference when we come together with a shared purpose.

For our students, initiatives such as Wear It Wild Day are about much more than fundraising. They provide opportunities to learn, take action and see first-hand how our choices can contribute to a more sustainable future. As a school located in the Algarve, with the ocean so closely connected to our local environment and identity, protecting our marine ecosystems is especially important to us.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our students, families and staff, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with AIMM and creating more opportunities for our community to learn about, celebrate and protect our oceans.
