Lagoa International Primary School

Lagoa’s International Primary School provides a safe and vibrant environment for children aged five to 11. We offer a challenging education in a creative, warm, and holistic learning environment to enable children to reach their full potential.

Our School Community

At Lagoa, young children benefit from being part of a buzzing, bigger school community, learning from senior peers who read with them, supporting them at events and competitions - or simply as an older buddy.

Children are taught mainly by their own class teacher, with the learning augmented through specialist teachers from Secondary in areas like PE and Music. All students are given close personal attention.

Ages 5 to 11

Our Curriculum

Nobel Algarve British International School offers the internationally-recognised English National Curriculum, with modifications to contextualise the learning experience for international students living in Portugal.

Primary School is divided into two stages:

  • Key Stage 1 (ages 5 to 7)
  • Key Stage 2 (ages 7 to 11)

As one of Globeducate’s British International Schools, we align with British education values and academic rigour, taking a customised approach to instil a sense of belonging to the Algarve and Portugal and to meet international students ‘where they are.’ The curriculum is taught in English, and all students will learn Portuguese.

Core Subjects

We follow the English National Curriculum and provide inquiry-based experiences to make learning come alive. We develop young learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged.

Our students are assessed using internationally-benchmarked assessments at key stages in their education.

Outdoor Learning

We offer a rich outdoor programme that spans a plethora of initiatives, including camps, our dedicated Forest School, and The Journey - an experience that pushes older students to their limits, learning how to cope with and overcome failure on the path to success. Outdoor education promotes environmental awareness and enables students to take measured risks and problem-solve, plus gain teamwork skills and independence. Here, we lay the foundations to prepare students to be resilient enough to live and study abroad.

Forest School

Designed for years 1-6, with well-being at the heart of our programme, our Forest School outdoor learning element engages students to work towards common goals. Each term is themed to complement other elements of the Primary Curriculum and designed by the Head of Forest School. Children enjoy regular Forest School lessons in the safe and secure outdoor school areas.
